What caused the breakdown?
Talking to Geo News, Khurram Dastgir Khan said that at the time of power generation, each megawatt is looked at to see what effect it will have on the power tariff and since the electricity demand is less in winter, at night time. Most systems are turned off and turned on again one by one in the morning.
He further informed that around seven o'clock this morning when the system was being switched on one by one, during this time there was a power breakdown between Jamshoro and Dadu due to a lack of frequency.
The situation in Karachi
K Electric says that faster power restoration in Karachi is dependent on the arrival of power from the National Grid, especially the power restoration of industrial areas depending on getting power from the National Grid.

When asked about the interruption in electricity supply in a large part of Karachi, the Federal Minister for Energy said that the issue of Karachi city is a bit complicated, K-Electric also has its own system in Karachi, but Karachi is not connected to the National Grid. 1100 megawatts of electricity is provided, and it will be restored in a few hours.
Karachi Water Board authorities say that water pumping in the city has additionally been affected due to the breakdown of power.
Apart from this, work in government and private institutions has been affected due to power breakdown in the city.
The situation in Lahore
Chief of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) Chaudhry Amin says that electricity supply has been restored from 86 grid stations of the city. Power supply has been restored to 1390 feeders of LESCO, 70% of the LESCO system has been restored, and the rest is being restored in phases.
The LESCO chief said that the entire system of LESCO will be activated after a while.
The situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The Chief of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) says that electricity has been restored at 53 grid stations ofin Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, of electricians ty will be restored for the next 2 hours.
