The Sindh government's request for postponement has been rejected, local body elections in Karachi and Hyderabad will be held tomorrow
Karachi: The Election Commission has decided to hold local body elections in Karachi and Hyderabad tomorrow.
An important meeting was held at the Election Commission headquarters in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja through a video link.
Secretary Election Commission Umar Hameed also participated in the meeting while Provincial Election Commissioner Ejaz Anwar Chauhan from Karachi participated in the meeting through a video link.
The important consultative meeting has ended in the Election Commission, in which it has been decided to hold local body elections in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Dadu.
The spokesperson of the Provincial Election Commission also confirmed the holding of local body elections in Karachi and Hyderabad yesterday.
It should be noted that the Sindh government had requested the Election Commission to postpone the municipal elections of Karachi and Hyderabad yesterday, while sensitive institutions also requested to postpone the elections given security concerns.
