An announcement to make electricity 10 rupees 80 paisa cheaper for the people of Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Nepra has announced to reduce electricity by 10 rupees 80 paise for K Electric customers.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) heard K Electric's request for December fuel charges adjustment, during which the authority was briefed that K Electric's furnace oil consumption remained low in December, furnace oil and LNG prices. According to the application of K Electric, consumers of Karachi will get relief of more than 12 billion rupees.

CFO K Electric said that the organization is working on setting up solar and wind power projects.

After the hearing, Chairman NEPRA Tauseef H. Farooqui announced to reduce of the cost of electricity by 10 rupees to 80 paise per unit for K-electric consumers and said that this will provide relief of about 11 billion rupees to K-electric consumers.

According to Nepra, electricity consumers have been given relief under the December adjustment.
