Sindh Local Government Election: Counting of votes after polling, inconclusive unofficial results continue
In the second phase of the local body elections in Sindh, the counting of votes continues after the polling time has ended in other districts including Karachi and Hyderabad divisions, and the series of inconclusive and unofficial results continue to come from various constituencies.
The polling process, which started at 8 am today, continued till 5 pm without any break.
After five o'clock, only those voters were allowed to vote who were already present in the polling.
The low voting rate in the cold this morning improved afternoon and people came out of their homes to decide the election of local body candidates.
In some places, the polling stations remained deserted and in some places, there was a rush. Compared to Karachi and Hyderabad, the number of voters at the polling stations was more in the rural areas.
Votes were also cast in the districts of Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, Jamshoro, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tandwala Yar, Matiari, and Dadu of the Hyderabad division.
Minister of Labor and Manpower Sindh and President PPP Karachi Division Saeed Ghani cast his vote like a common voter in UC 8, Chinesar Town.
Apart from this, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman casted his vote, and Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman casted his vote at the polling station Elementary Government Girls School.
Hafiz Naeem is a candidate for the chairman from UC-8 North Nazimabad Town.
Polling for local body elections was also held today in 9 districts of the Hyderabad division.
In Hyderabad, 2551 candidates, 1436 in Dadu, 839 in Jamshoro, 781 in Tandwalhiyar, 715 in Matiari, and 452 candidates in Tandu Muhammad Khan are contesting on various seats.
Voting in 246 USCs of Karachi:
Voting was held in 984 wards of 246 union councils of 25 towns of 7 districts of Karachi.
Every UC has 4 wards, and the citizen needs to choose the general councilor of the ward notwithstanding the Chairman and Vice Chairman, and both will have one vote, the subsequent vote will be the general councilor, every UC will comprise 11 individuals, and the 6 union members will be straightforwardly chosen in the council board.
9,058 candidates are in the competition for the seat of Chairman, Vice Chairman, and General Member in the Karachi Division.
From various union committees, 7 candidates have been elected unopposed, on the panel of chairman and vice chairman and a general member from Karachi.
Because of the death of candidates for general members and 22 seats of Chairman and Vice Chairman of Karachi Division, Elections will not be held today (January 15).
The deceased candidates incorporate 9 Chairman and Vice Chairman of different UCs and 13 candidates for general individuals.
The deceased candidates include 9 chairmen and vice chairman of various union committees and 13 candidates for general members.
The Election Commissioner of Sindh said that CCTV cameras have been installed at sensitive polling stations, and 8 to 10 police personnel are deployed at the most sensitive polling stations.
