The statement of the online encyclopedia service Wikipedia, which was blocked by Pakistan Telecommunication (PTA) for not removing insulting and illegal content, has also come out.

A statement issued by Wikipedia's official account on social media confirmed that PTA has blocked our service and all projects in Pakistan.

We were told by PTA on February 1st that Wikipedia's service has been downgraded for 48 hours and then on February 3rd, citing illegal content, we were informed by Wikipedia. The service was completely blocked in Pakistan.

The online encyclopedia tweeted that we believe in 'information for all' and blocking Wikipedia's service in Pakistan means free access to information to the world's fifth-largest population. If this trend continues, everyone will lose access to Pakistan's history and culture.

We hope that the Government of Pakistan will support us in the right of access to information for everyone and will immediately restore the Wikipedia service and projects so that the people of Pakistan can share their knowledge around the world, the website added.
